Notary Public
Is an official or authorized representative appointed by the state government, usually by the Secretary of State to serve as an impartial witness in performing a variety of official fraud deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents.
Acknowledgement
When a signer has his or her signature witnessed or verified by a notary public on a document that was voluntarily completed by the signer.
Affidavit
A written statement made voluntarily under oath by the affiant that the information is true and that they must have personal knowledge of the facts in the affidavit. This declaration of facts are sworn or affirmed before a Notary Public or other authorized official.
Jurat
A certification added to an affidavit or document stating when, where and before whom such affidavit was made.
Oath
A solemn declaration, accompanied by the swearing to God or a revered person or thing, that one’s statement is true or that one will be bound to a promise.
Proof
An affidavit in which the subscribing witness gives a sworn statement about the details of the original signing.
As stated by National Notary Association and the Secretary of State of Texas websites. For all general notary and loan signing appointments the client will need a valid ID such as, current driver’s license, identification card or a passport. If needed for the appointment then a witness or witnesses should be present.
